Match Report
Real Madrid have closed out their preseason with a win over Chelsea, following consecutive defeats against AC Milan and Barcelona. It was a match that saw some of the heavyweights return to action in Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes, who both started.
Both were given 66 minutes before being withdrawn for Nico Paz and Juanmi Latasa, and Vinicius was key in the winner. Real Madrid started off well and were carving open the Chelsea defence regularly when Brahim Diaz laid the ball off for Lucas Vazquez to strike. His effort was deflected and rolled into the corner past Filip Jorgensen.
Vinicius then slid an angled ball behind the defence, and Brahim did well to round Jorgensen before finishing from a tight angle. He would pick up the man of the match award in the end. Chelsea did manage to turn the tide though, and after Raheem Sterling could not find a teammate with a ball across the six-yard box, Enzo Fernandez did find Noni Madueke five minutes before half-time.
His soft header into the far corner cut the deficit at the break, when Andriy Lunin came on. He was forced into a good save early on. That kept Real Madrid in front, but thereafter there was little to report in terms of the game, which gradually lost air as it went on.
Carlo Ancelotti will now have to assess the fitness of his squad when they return to Madrid, as they prepare for a trip to Poland to face Atalanta in the European Supercup. Brahim, young defender Joan Martinez and Castilla midfielder Mario Martin probably did themselves the most good during their trip to the USA.

With this current ownership and management, nobody should expect trophy from Chelsea anytime soon. Because Chelsea right now is all about business and beating FFP rules. Imaging sacking a coach that just found is foot and preparing to make wave in the new season do you know how long we waited for Poch to get his right team? and when he got it towards the end of the season Booom he was sacked and they brought in Enzo.. that for now still searching for the right players to use and he will need another full season to understand the players and the players to understand his tactics and boomzzzz he will be sack again. The owners are buying lots of available players to resell them for business not for winning cup. Because how will you explain. selling your bright Lads and spending excess for the one that are not up to their standard that will eventually flop. With no disrespect to any players or skill where is the Chelsea that used to go for top guns in the market instead of mediocre players we are buying right now. After this season let them remove Chelsea from Top EPL club because we doing business like smaller clubs. Buying quantity instead of quality. KTBFFH

The boys look discouraged all through. Is the Chalobah + Gallagher maltreatment affecting them?

You will remark that some serious prediction application avoided predicting the friendly games. During the preseason coaches don't use the real man against the real opponents. Some players are starters here but they are subst/on bench in real games. What we can do here is to appreciate the performance and ability of each player not the result of the games. Most of the time, preseason differs from the real competitions.
