Real Madrid player ratings vs Manchester City: Vinicius gives hope

Real Madrid were made to work hard against a rampant Manchester City on Tuesday in the Champions League semi final first leg at the Etihad Stadium.

But they refused to give in and, even having lost 4-3, they will be the more content of the two sides given how dominant City were.

The Belgian wasn't necessarily at fault for the goals but he didn't have his now-expected phenomenal game in the big moments and was a bit suspect on the ball.

De Bruyne got the better of him for the goal while Foden caused him nightmares all evening. Looking a shadow of the player he once was.

Run ragged at times but Jesus, and his positioning was all over the place.

Came close with a header in the first half, and was good on the ball. But much like his colleagues, his defending wasn't. At fault for the goal that made it 2-0 to City.

He wasn't 100 percent fit and it showed.

Didn't look too keen on the defensive duties and offered little going forward.

A rare occasion on which he looked unsettled off the ball, but he was still superb in the rare moments he was on it.

Replacing Casemiro is an unenviable task and while he performed so well against Chelsea, he was found stretched by City's rampant midfield.

A bright spark as always for Madrid, getting his side into the game at 3-2 with a spectacular goal as well as much more dangerous play on the left.

Showed his class as always with a fine goal at a time when Madrid looked dead and buried, and then composure to convert from the spot. His all round game was good too.

Given a rare start down the right but didn't take his chance with both hands. He did well on occasions but went missing for large chunks before being taken off on 70 minutes.
