The funeral of Maria Rosa Carnicer, mother of Sergi Roberto, gathered hundreds of neighbours in the Parish of Sant Crist in Reus at four o'clock this Sunday afternoon.
Accompanied by his family, including his wife, Coral Simanovich, Sergi Roberto gave the last farewell to his mother, who died after fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Sergi Roberto has been involved in the fight against ALS since his mother was diagnosed with this disease.
In June, on the World Day against ALS, the footballer launched a message through social networks to highlight the contribution that we can all make in the fight against this disease. “Today is World ALS Day and I want to share this photo with my mother. The best mother in the world and the most fighting mother. I want to encourage all the people who also fight against this disease and see if we all find a cure,” he wrote.
