Ronaldinho's teammates from his international debut - Where are they now?

One of the most skilful footballers to have ever graced the game is Brazil's Ronaldinho who made his international debut against Latvia in a friendly tie on June 26, 1999, at the Joaquim Americo Stadium in Curitiba, Brazil.

Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and Alex were on target for the Selecao as they outclassed Latvia 3-0. Ronaldinho was handed a start by Brazil coach Wanderley Luxemburgo on his debut and he played for the entirety of the 90 minutes.

Thereafter Ronaldinho went on to play for 14 years and appeared in 97 matches for Brazil where he scored 33 goals.

Let us take a look at the players who had played alongside Ronaldinho on his international debut.

The legendary defender played for clubs like AS Roma and AC Milan. At Milan, Cafu had won the Champions League in the 2006-07 season. With Brazil, Cafu won the World Cup twice (1994 and 2002) and was the captain of the Brazilian side at the 2002 World Cup. Cafu retired from professional football in 2008. He is currently one of the legacy ambassadors of the Qatar World Cup 2022.

One of the greatest defenders of all time, Roberto Carlos played for giants like Inter Milan and Real Madrid. His career as a professional footballer ended in India at Delhi Dynamos where he had joined as a player-manager in 2015. After his Dynamos stint, he retired from professional football. Carlos has won the World Cup twice (1994 and 2002) with Brazil.

Before Delhi Dynamos, Carlos had worked as a manager at Russian club Anzi Makhachkala and Turkish clubs Sivasspor and Akhisarspor.

The midfielder played for clubs like PSV Eindhoven, Inter Milan and PSG. He won the World Cup in 2002 with Brazil. Vampeta retired from professional football in 2008.

Post retirement, Vampeta managed Sao Paulo's third and fourth division clubs Nacional SP and Gremio Osasco in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

One of the greatest strikers to have graced the game, Ronaldo played for European giants like Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan. Ronaldo retired from professional football in 2011. With Brazil he won two World Cups (1994 and 2002).

In 2018, the legendary striker became the majority owner of Spanish second division side Real Valladolid in September 2018, after buying 51 per cent of the club’s shares for a total amount of €30m.
