Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Juventus to do some 'reflection' after the Italian champions' embarrassing last-16 exit from the Champions League.
The Turin giants crashed out on Friday despite Ronaldo's scoring a double to earn a 2-1 victory in their second-leg clash with Lyon - with the French underdogs sneaking through to the quarter-finals thanks to their 1-0 win over Juve back in February.
The result leaves Juventus still hunting for their first Champions League success since 1996, after crashing out in Ronaldo's debut season last year at the hands of Ajax in the quarter-finals.
Ronaldo finished the campaign with 37 goals in 46 games - enough to break a 94-year-old Juventus record for a single season - but the 35-year-old will be furious at being denied the opportunity to add to his tally in the latter European rounds.
'The 2019/20 season is over for us, much later than usual but yet sooner than we expected,' the Portuguese icon wrote on Instagram, attached to a shot of him kissing the Champions League ball.
'Now it’s time for reflection. A huge club such as Juventus must always think like the best in the world and work like the best in the world.
'Winning the Serie A in such a difficult year is something that we are very proud of. But the fans demand more from us and we have to deliver, we must live up to the highest expectations.
'May this short vacation break allow us all to make the best decisions for the future and come back stronger and more committed than ever.'
Despite narrowly securing Serie A glory, manager Maurizio Sarri has been sacked by Juventus after tension had dogged the former Chelsea boss all season.
Ronaldo will be desperate to succeed in his mission to bring Champions League glory back to Italy, with Juve's next managerial appointment crucial in helping him do so.

Although Dybala sometimes show brilliance whenever he chooses to, it is CR7 who has oftentimes singlehandedly carried Juve on his back. The Serie A assist stats below shows that none of Juve's players in the 2019/20 season made the Top 10 Assist Maker List (except for Kulusevski who is yet to play for Juve because he finished the season at Parma from where he was bought). So, without CR7, they would have even lost the Scudetto which seems to have become their birth right. Juve needs a coach with a balanced philosophy of attack plus defence. They also need extremely creative midfielders who can release the ball to CR7 to do what he does best: SCORE A PLETHORA OF GOALS!!!

One of the best players to ever play the beautiful game,He showed it yesterday,He was the only one willing to play and he scored 2 good goals,But no one was there to support him to at least get the 3rd and decisive goal,I hope he doesn't leave Juve as Sarri has been sacked now,I hope the new management make mass changes to improve the team and bring back the beast in CR7.💪🔥❤

The same people who called Messi a bottler last season are telling us Ronaldo did his best now, yet both scored 2 goals in their respective ties... The same people saying he doesn't need great players, he just need a ball to win are now blaming his teammates. Ronaldo vs Messi has brought out the worst hypocrisy, stupidity and ingratitude from many fans and it's just heartbreaking!

What is there for him to prove, this guy has traveled to many leagues as he's broken more and more records. He even made a name for himself as it's like a brand, he literally has the same amount of UCL with Barcelona (a whole club that started long ago even before Ronaldo's father was born). What else is there to prove, WHAT WE should remember now is that this is Cristiano Ronaldo. The man who never stops buy keeps moving forward and that's why he won't quit. I love that about him.......😏
