Mohamed Salah's goal for Liverpool against Toulouse didn't have much impact on the outcome with the Reds well on their way to a big win, but it was enough for the Egyptian to break a record held by Thierry Henry for 17 years.
French international Henry scored 42 goals in European competition for Arsenal, the last of them coming against Porto in September 2006. He didn't add to that tally during his second spell with the Gunners, during which he played just once in Europe.
His record of most European goals from a Premier League player stood for more than a decade and a half. However, Salah has finally surpassed Henry with his second Europa League goal this season to add to his 41 in the Champions League in Liverpool colours.
Salah's first European goal of the season came in a 3-1 victory away to LASK, one of three straight victories for Jurgen Klopp's side. The latest win, by five goals to one against Toulouse, also saw Diogo Jota, Wataru Endo, Darwin Nunez and Ryan Gravenberch find the net.
"I think I've said before, I think it's really easy to fall in love with this team because it [has] so much excitement in it," Klopp said after the win. "We have to make massive steps, we have to grow, we have to get more stable, we have to do a lot of things but a lot of signs are really promising.
"So far, it's OK and before we play Toulouse again we have three games," he added. "There is a lot that can happen between now and then, and I would like to play them all one after the other and not making too big steps."
Klopp also took the opportunity to give minutes to some of Liverpool's academy players. Luke Chambers started the match, with Callum Scanlon, Jarell Quansah and James McConnell coming off the bench.
"If Ben Doak would have been available tonight, he would have got minutes, like Bobby Clark probably would have minutes, so that's how it is," Klopp said after the win. "And we should not forget Jarell Quansah, who played again.
"So a lot of good boys coming up and it's not enough that I tell them what they do from time to time – not too often but from to time – but sometimes you have to show it. Tonight we had the opportunity to do so and we did, and that's good."
Next up for Liverpool is a Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest. They have two further games, against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and Luton in the league, before travelling to Toulouse for their next European fixture.

ARSEnal Fans are just so pained. You should feel more pain that with 42 goals Thiery Henry never won a single european competition with your useless club. Save your tears. Furthermore, Salah has more ucl than ARSEnal as a club. Rest.
