Mohamed Salah has revealed he does not think people understand his position at Liverpool and insisted that he is a winger, not a striker.
The Egyptian is enjoying another stellar season at the Reds, having scored 30 goals in all competitions and 22 in the Premier League alone.
That tally sees Salah set to win his third Golden Boot as Liverpool chase an unprecedented quadruple, and this season has already seen him win his second Football Writers' Player of the Year award.
But when speaking at the awards ceremony on Thursday, Salah took pains to correct what he sees as a mistake when people talk about what his position is.
'I'm not a striker,' he said . 'I'm not a striker because I play as a winger. I don't play No 9, I play on the wing. It's completely different when you play as a winger.
'People count me as a striker, but they shouldn't because I don't play as a striker. In our last game, (Diogo) Jota was our striker and we have (Sadio) Mane as a No 9.
'I've never been a No 9. I'm just focused in every game to try and help the team win games and that's the most important thing. Once the team wins, I'm happy.'
The comments are some admission given Salah has scored 155 goals in 248 appearances since joining Liverpool for £38million in 2017 - averaging more than 30 goals a season.
Asked about the Reds' chances of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title and keeping their quadruple hopes alive, Salah said: 'I think City are a very tough team, one of the best in the world.
'In the last 10 years, I think they have won the Premier League five times. They're always trying to win the Premier League and they have a chance to do it.
'There are four games left and they are ahead of us. We just need to give it a try and see what happens.'
However, the Egyptian remained tight-lipped about his Liverpool future, despite fans going wild over seeing Salah sat with his agent and sporting director Michael Edwards at the awards dinner.
Salah said the players were delighted that Klopp had signed a new contract, but didn't reveal anything further about his own contract negotiations.
'Of course, we (he and Klopp) have a good relationship since I came here,' he said.
'We've worked together for five years and we've achieved a lot of things for the club. Of course, it's great to see him extend his contract with the club.
'It's good for everyone, for the club and the players, and let's see what happens next.'

Salah the reason people think so, is because you have confused them with the way score a of goals😁 but we know you really position 👏 But since you have set yourself high standard of scoring goals 😁 then continue doing it, go and break those Liverpool goal records and sign a new contract soon👏👏

Finally from the Horses Mouth🔞❤️ You”ll Be Aware of this, same way I’ve been wondering all seasons we never had many options on No.9 position before jota came in Mane was Also playing wing side along Firmino..Now Diaz has made an impact we have Mane now switching to that No.9Role along jota, firmino, sometimes origi Minamino too. Liverpool had wingers performing @the very top most performances Relentless goal scoring threats each game after game season after seasons I see no reason why the rest clubs thinks we have this so called 9.at our disposal while you all having your wingers why can’t they give you goals too per season, look @ city , Mahrez, Sterling, Foden, Bernado,Grealish, Jesus, Ferran left augero left Silva left) Chelsea etc and so On..so why can’t they get your team goals..SaLah is Underated in this League for not being an England player but time will tell achievement speaks for themselves 🏆❤️⚽️ This Is Liverpool This Means More YNWA❤️🎵
