Manchester City winger Leroy Sane and Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick 'exchanged a 30-minute phone call', according to reports in Germany.

Sane has been the Bundesliga side's No 1 target since last summer but a knee ligament injury picked up in August's Community Shield ended any hopes of a transfer.

The German international is now fit again and but Bayern have had a change in manager since the club's previous interest with Hansi Flick taking over from Niko Kovac.

However, Flick has reportedly been convinced to pursue a transfer after a 30-minute phone call with the winger, according to German outlet SportBild.

The report claims the coach has put aside his initial skepticism and doubts over a move.

Flick has reportedly had different ideas on management to sports director Hasan Salihamidzic but tensions have eased under the direction of new board member Oliver Kahn.

The manager took over on a temporary basis in November after Kovac was sacked but was given the job permanently in March.

Sane's agent has previously told Bild that Bayern is the only club Sane could imagine leaving City for.

'FC Bayern is the only club in Germany that Leroy can imagine as the next step in his career,' his new agent Damir Smoljan told Bild.

'There he sees the prerequisites for achieving his big goal of winning the Champions League.'
