Fans online have labelled Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol a 'real gem' after his heroic performance in defence against Brazil.
The 20-year-old started in the heart of defence for Croatia in their quarter-finals clash against Brazil and put in an inspired first-half performance to keep the Selecao at bay.
And - with many fans keeping a keen eye on the promising defender - Gvardiol was showered with compliments as people reacted to his defensive display.
In the first-half alone, Gvardiol made five clearances, two recoveries and one block to ensure that the quarter-final clash remained goalless at the break.
After his heroics, fans were quick to praise the defender who has been linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks.
'Croatia have a real gem with Joško Gvardiol. He's so good for a 20yo. Immensely talented,' one fan wrote.
'A Rolls-Royce of a defender. One of the best players of this World Cup! Only 20 years and Joško Gvardiol is already an elite center back. Sensational! Would love to see him play for Madrid,' another wrote.
One fan claimed: 'Having watched this World Cup I can say Gvardiol is the real deal'
Praise did not stop there, with one user writing: 'Josko Gvardiol is a baller!'
'Gvardiol... such a serious talent,' another wrote about the defender.
It's not just his display against Brazil that has caught the eye. The centre-back was praised by fans on social media after making a sensational block against Belgium.
Gvardiol denied Red Devils striker Romelu Lukaku with a goal-saving tackle in the dying embers of their final group game.
There's been serious interest in Gvardiol ever since the summer when Chelsea were close to convincing the centre-back to join the club.
Chelsea opened talks to sign him for around £75m and loan him back to RB Leipzig for this season, but Gvardiol stayed put and signed a new deal.
Christopher Vivell, expected to become Chelsea's new technical director, has also followed Gvardiol since he was 16, and first tried to sign him for RB Salzburg before eventually succeeded at Leipzig.
But Chelsea are far from alone. United and Tottenham were also keen during the summer. There were suggestions Manchester City considered rivalling Chelsea on deadline day. And then there are Europe's other big guns, including Real Madrid, too.
