Luis Enrique saw his Spain side battle to a 2-1 home win against Norway in Euro 2020 qualifying, thanks to Sergio Ramos' penalty.
Match Events
16' GOAL! Spain 1-0 Norway (Rodrigo)
SPAIN BREAK THE DEADLOCK! It's 1-0! Jordi Alba is played smartly through down the left by Asensio, and picks out the perfect cross for Rodrigo, who has a simple first-time finish from eight yards! It's a moment to remember for Rodrigo, who is a fan favourite at Mestalla, playing his club football with Valencia.
40' OFFSIDE! Alba's goal disallowed
OFFSIDE! Asensio finds space down the left yet again, and rolls a lovely ball through for Alba - temporarily acting as a striker, it would appear - and the full-back finishes smartly, but the offside flag is raised! Had he left that ball for Morata, the striker would have been onside and would have had a tap-in.
65' Penalty Goal! Spain 1-1 Norway (King)
PENALTY TO NORWAY! A huge moment in this match as Martinez drags Johnsen to ground from a corner, and the referee points straight to the spot, while issuing a yellow card to Spain's centre-back.
PARITY RESTORED AT MESTALLA! 1-1! Wonderful composure from King who slots his penalty just inside the post, hardly taking a run up. That was hit hard and accurate, leaving De Gea with no chance despite guessing correctly.
71' Penalty Goal! Spain 2-1 Norway (Ramos)
PENALTY TO NORWAY! A huge moment in this match as Martinez drags Johnsen to ground from a corner, and the referee points straight to the spot, while issuing a yellow card to Spain's centre-back.
SPAIN RESTORE THEIR LEAD! It's 2-1 at Mestalla as Ramos confidently slots home his Panenka penalty, and Norway have it all to do again!
Match reports:
Sergio Ramos scored the winner from the penalty spot as Spain opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory at home to Norway.
In their first match in Group F at Mestalla on Saturday, Luis Enrique's side were dominant but saw Josh King cancel out Rodrigo Moreno's opener.
Inigo Martinez needlessly gave away a penalty that Bournemouth striker King confidently stroked home to level the scores in the 76th minute.
But another error at the other end handed Spain the points, the otherwise impressive goalkeeper Rune Jarstein bringing down Alvaro Morata and Ramos converting with a Panenka.

Ramos is the great wall of Madrid and Spain. The leader of both his country and club.A great achiever in football history. A player we will talk about for the coming years, when he retires. I pay my respect.

Spain are so fun to watch. Alba and Asensio on the left are a treat to watch, tuned in to the game for Matrin stayed because of Spain's free flowing football. Just wish there was someone better than Alvaro upfront.

Everyone is talking about Ramos but no one is talking about Alba even though he has the highest rating.

People waiting to hate on Alvaro, sorry but not today. If Alba has let Asensio’s pass go through Morata would have scored. Then he won the winning penalty. He didn’t get a goal but he played well. Overall good performance but Spain should still do better.
