Barcelona's history can be split into two parts, the pre-Lionel Messi era and the years since his first-team debut in 2004.
Not only have they performed better on the pitch and won 33 trophies since he arrived on the scene, but so much more about the club has changed because of him.
Here, we look at how the Catalan club has evolved since the arrival of the Argentine.
Titles
Barcelona have won 93 trophies over the course of the club's history and 33 of them have been claimed with Messi, which is 35 percent.
For over a third of the club's honours, and four of their five European Cups, to have been won during the 15 years they've had Messi says it all about his impact on the field.
Messi has competed for 60 titles during his time at the club and has won more than half of them, or 55 percent.
Considering Barcelona had previously claimed just 24 percent of the titles they'd fought for, this is an incredible achievement.
Mentality
Related with this increase in the trophy haul is the change in the menatality.
Gerard Pique once claimed that Barcelona's mentality had shifted in recent years as a result of their success on the pitch.
With Messi, Barcelona can go into any game in any stadium and feel confident of winning, as seen by the fact they've won at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the league in each of the past four seasons.
They've now moved ahead of Real Madrid in the Clasico victory count, with 96 to 95, and the Messi factor has a lot to do with this.
Goals
Of course, Messi has had such an influence on Barcelona's results because he scores so much.
When he started out with the senior squad, Barcelona had scored 6,081 goals in their 105 years of history, but now they've added another 2,141.
Of the 8,222 goals they've scored throughout their history, 26 percent have come during the Messi era and 590 have been scored by the No.10 himself.
Budget
With Messi in their squad, Barcelona have taken important steps forward on the international market and are now the most global club.
Partly because of the No.10, they now have millions of fans all over the world and have been able to increase their budget, which should help them in the future.

People talk about Ronaldo winning 5 ucl trophies for real Madrid.. Hell they were already the best club in the world when he arrived. When messi came.. Barca were not winning anything.. Almost a small club. Then ronaldinho gave them a kick start.. and Lionel messi literally turned them into one of the best clubs of all time.

Yes Messi is great and was a big part of Barca’s success but let’s not act like he wasn’t surrounded by the likes of Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Piqué, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, Suarez, Valdés, Henry, Deco, David Villa, Alves, Mascherano, Alba, and many others. He played with members of the dominant spain side whose 2010 squad was arguably the best international squad ever, with many Barca players making up that team. I’m not downplaying his greatness but he didn’t do it on his own and has had the help of many greats. He was never surrounded by bad players and if it wasn’t for everyone doing their part they wouldn’t have had that success.
