Starting next season, if the commissioners approve it, Barcelona will be playing with the 11th different crest in their 119-year history.
The first edition was the shield of the city of Barcelona, with a crown and a bat above, surrounded by two branches, one of laurel and another of palm.
All of this was to represent the club's relationship with the city it was born in.
In 1910, Barcelona called for a competition to modify it which was won by Santiago Femenia, player for the club between 1903 and 1912, and then a medical student and a great draftsman.
Thus, the crest was born that has been used since then, with slight evolutions to the current one.
It's a crest shaped like a pot that kept the cross of Sant Jordi in the upper part with the four bars, representative elements of Barcelona and Catalonia, respectively.
In the centre, a strip, where the initials of the club, FCB, appeared, and below were the blue and scarlet colors with a football.
The penultimate update dates back to 2002, when the designer Claret Serrahima opted for more stylized lines, suppressed the points that separated the initials of the club, shortened the name and reduced the number of points.

I just made this as I wanted to share the history of our club online. This is the information I have read about. Some of the things on Wikipedia are actually false. And there are a lot of sites without sources. But the official club site is great for looking up information even though it does not have that much info.
