Thomas Frank has apologised to the Brentford fans who made the 140-mile round trip to Southampton to see their side lose 4-1 on Tuesday night - and claims his Bees side need to be more switched in games.
The west Londoners conceded two goals in both halves to slip down underneath the Saints in the Premier League table to 13th - and record their third defeat in four matches.
Danish boss Frank was adamant that Southampton 'didn't create anything' in the match, despite going down 4-1 to Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, but did admit his side were punished for a lack of concentration.
'First, thank you very much to our fans for travelling down here,' Frank told the Brentford media channel. '(It was a) full support, maximum capacity, filled out. I'm sorry we couldn't do better.
'A big thing in a Premier League game, if we are not 100 per cent at it for every second, we'll be in trouble or can be in trouble. And today we got punished hard.
'Southampton were a little bit more on the ball than us, but they were not as dangerous. They didn't create anything in the open game.'
Hasenhuttl's Saints took the lead early on when James Ward-Prowse, who Frank claimed had the best right foot in world football before the game, crossed the ball in for Jan Bednarek to head home an opener.
Brentford responded in excellent fashion when Vitaly Janelt found the net mid-way through the first-half, but Ibrahima Diallo's long-range shot came off the post and in the net via goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez for an own goal before the break.
With the Bees pressing for an equaliser in the second-half, Saints forward Armando Broja scored a solo goal on the counter-attack before Che Adams scored a fourth to put the result beyond any reasonable doubt.
Frank revealed that he and his players will 'look inside' to find a solution to their latest defeat, but still claims his still were on a similar level to Southampton on Tuesday night.
'A lot of it is in the timings of the goals,' Frank added. 'They scored four goals on five chances, two they can't miss.
'So in general, we need to be 100 per cent at it. We need to look inside, I need to look inside. The players need to be better on the ball and on the second balls.'
'I think there's a lot to learn from this game. Southampton are an experienced Premier League side. I think we were more even than we showed today. That's why it's so hard and so disappointing. But today we can't say there was a big difference.'
