Messi has exceeded 50 goals in eight of the last nine years, and only fell below 50 goals in 2013, when he scored 45 in 47 games.
Cristiano had always scored more than 50 since 2011, reaching 69 in 2013.
With only one less, that streak is finally broken.
The absolute record is still held by Messi, who scored a whopping 91 goals in 2012.

Personally, no need to comapare the football star duo. CR7 has proven himself a champion in any league. Played and did well in sporting, MAN U, Real madrid, and he is doing well in Juve. What he has gone through, the injustices and bias from football masquerades, if Messi experienced a quarter of those his career would have ended. However, the both have made football a fun and a fight. They brought age long competitiveness to football. Please let's respect the two in their individual capabilities, and stop their comparism as they are not in the same sailing boat of playing and taking up challenges.

People call Ronaldo a great goal scorer, but it's schocking how Messi beats him in Assists, Play making, Key passes, Pass accuracy, Chances created & he's also scoring more than Ronaldo. Where does Ronaldo stand in front of Messi? Only a blind man will say that Ronaldo is a better player than Messi or probably a better goal scorer than Messi. Messi is better in every aspect.
