Cristiano Ronaldo will forever go down as one of La Liga’s all-time greats, having enjoyed an incredible nine-year spell in Spain. The Real Madrid legend managed 450 goals and 131 assists in 438 games.

CR7 played a key role in helping Los Blancos end the Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona’s dominance, winning La Liga twice. He also finished top-scorer three times and won the Player of the Year in 2013/14.

The Portuguese phenomenon ended his glorious Real Madrid career in 2018 for a new challenge at Juventus. But while it’s been almost two years since his departure, his legacy lives on.

So, without further ado, we give you Ronaldo’s top 5 records from the Spanish top-flight.

Fastest Player to Score 150, 200 and 300 La Liga Goals

Chances of this one ever being broken are almost zero.

After completing a world-record €94m transfer in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo soon found his feet at Real Madrid and finished as La Liga’s top-scorer in only his second season, beating Lionel Messi by a nine-goal margin.

The forward then set a record for scoring 150 La Liga goals against Getafe in only his 140th match in 2013.

He followed this up by scoring his 200th in his 178th game and his 300th in his 286th game.

Most penalty goals La Liga history – 61

Many Spanish football fans won’t be surprised to hear that Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for most goals from the penalty spot, having dubbed him ‘Penaldo’ during his nine years in La Liga.

The Portuguese was Real Madrid’s go-to-guy in the attack, free-kicks and penalties. He always excelled from the spot, capable of handling the pressure in one of the longest and loneliest jobs in football.

Ronaldo also holds the record for the most penalties taken in La Liga history on 72 attempts.

First player to score in six consecutive Clasicos

The famous ‘Clasico’ between sworn rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona is the biggest fixture in La Liga.

The rivalry between the two clubs goes beyond football as the match also represents two of Spain’s biggest cities, who both have different political positions. The teams are also the most successful and supported worldwide.

And Ronaldo, who relishes strong foes, thrived on the big stage for Real Madrid by scoring 18 goals in 31 matches.

CR7 broke fellow Real Madrid great Ivan Zamorano’s record of scoring in five consecutive Clasicos in 2012, setting the landmark to six matches.

Most league hat-tricks scored in a season – 8

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has no limits for putting the ball back in the net. He bagged a record 34 hat-tricks in La Liga before leaving Real Madrid, which Messi has only recently broke.

Although the Barcelona star is yet to move ahead of Ronaldo for sole rights to the most hat-tricks in a single La Liga season record. The pair are tied on eight hat-tricks.

Messi got the record first by bagging eight trebles in the 2011/12 season for Barcelona. Ronaldo, meanwhile, moved level with his rival in 2014/15 after scoring an insane 48 goals in 35 games.

Fastest to 20 league goals in a single season – 12 games

The 2014/15 season was Cristiano Ronaldo’s greatest campaign individually.

With Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, Real Madrid fought bitter rivals Barcelona right to the very end in a hotly disputed title battle. Ultimately, though, the Blaugrana won La Liga by two points.

But while Los Blancos lost their league crown, Ronaldo won many plaudits and records for his displays.
