Tottenham are ready to offload midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 27, amid interest from Atletico Madrid.

The Denmark international has two years left on his contract, but is unsure about committing to a new deal to extend his stay in north London.

Spurs completed one of their priority signings of the window with the £45million acquisition of James Maddison from relegated Leicester on Wednesday, and the Foxes star could yet be joined by his team-mate Harvey Barnes, who has also caught the eye of new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Maddison's arrival is Tottenham's third purchase of the summer, joining goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and a permanent deal for Juventus loanee Dejan Kulusevski.

Should Hojbjerg leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he would call time on an impressive three-year spell at the Premier League outfit, who he joined from Southampton in 2020.

Hojbjerg has made 145 appearances across all competition for the side, and excelled under an array of Spurs' managers during the period.

But there is concern that the midfielder may not fit into the free-flowing side that Postecoglou is determined to shape at the club, which could hasten a move.

Along with interest from Atletico, the 27-year-old has also been linked to a number of top flight rivals, including Bayern Munich.

However, the Bundesliga side are dedicate much of their transfer energies into luring Hojbjerg's team-mate Harry Kane to Bavaria.

Thomas Tuchel's team are believed to have tabled a £60m offer for the talismanic No 9, but Tottenham's hierarchy are steadfast that the England captain will not leave during this summer's window.
