Manchester United legend Roy Keane and Micah Richards have exchanged tense words over the former Manchester City defender's career.

Keane is not afraid to air his opinions and in a mild bit of banter ahead of United 's home match with City, the former Reds' captain successfully irked Richards.

Richards was discussing the impact of 18-year-old midfielder Billy Gilmour on Chelsea in recent games ahead of their clash with Everton when Keane chimed in.

Speaking about his own career and how he 'burst onto the scene,' the former England defender quickly became mildly frustrated when Keane jumped in to counter what he'd said.

Speaking about Chelsea's Gilmour, Richards told Sky Sports: "I burst on the scene and as a player you can believe the hype. Injuries didn't help me but he just has to keep his feet on the ground. He's got a manager (Frank Lampard) there who believes in his talent."

Keane chimed in: "Did you burst onto the scene? Very few defenders burst onto the scene."

Richards responded in a more heated tone: "Do you not remember my header against Aston Villa? Hold on, I played for England at 18, youngest ever defender. I would say that's bursting onto the scene."

It's clear this was not a serious argument in any way but Keane's face after the exchange certainly showed the wind-up merchant enjoyed the back and forth.
