The Spanish goalkeeper appeared to go down with an injury late in extra-time against Manchester City with the score tied 0-0.
Sarri summoned Willy Caballero to replace Kepa, with both players' numbers going up on the substitutes board.
However, Kepa extraordinarily refused to be taken off, waving off his manager in a clear act of defiance.
Manchester City are the EFL Cup winners in the end with a 4-3 score in the penalty shootout. Kepa saves one penalty - but Ederson saves two.

Bottom Line - if today’s game was a deciding factor whether Sarri stays or leaves, Kepa hedged his position. Let me explain. Chelsea played good football today and if a win was required to keep Sarri’s Position - Sarri didn’t loose, but now has another opportunity. Why? With Kepa’s refusal to be subbed off, the outcome and responsibility of the penalty shootout shifted to Kepa, not Sarri. If he came off and Cabellero came in and they lost the shootout, Sarri would be crucified for taking Kepa off. But, Kepa refused to come off, so win or loose, Sarri gets another chance; which I believe he deserves.

True what Kepa did was disrespectful, but he gave us another chance, no one know what Cabellero would do. But we missed the first shot... we blame Jorginho we blame sarri.. jorg had made mistakes that nearly cost us, one actually cause Rudiger a issue leading to him getting a yellow card... chelsea got chances to win the match before extra time.. kepa was okay hes good we saw him in action before with penalties.. Before the incidence sarri was so excited to have reduce the six goals to zero which let his lack of self control because Sarri should have ask of Kepa fitness before making the changes. You guys should be happy for Kepa baldness, confidence and he had the support of his team mate cus if you watch the video well you will realise David Luis only ask him "are you ok?"
