Valverde leading the changes as he always turns to his bench

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has often been accused of being an immobile coach, but those making those accusations have run out of arguments.

In his first two seasons on the bench at the Camp Nou he was criticised for his changes, for always making the same substitutes or for even going through games without using the three allowed.

But things have turned. Valverde isn't acting as before. He often turns to his bench and has no problems making changes even during the break.

In his first two seasons there were four games in which he didn't make all of his changes, but so far this season he's used all three on each occasion.

Barcelona are the side whose subs have played the most - 968 minutes. The data is a real contrast to what's being seen at Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane takes longer than anyone to make changes, with Los Blancos' arrivals only accumulating 574 minutes on the pitch.

Granada and Atletico Madrid - 958 and 957 minutes - are next in line of those sides to have given the most minutes to their backups.

Ansu Fati has benefited more than anyone at Barcelona, gathering 138 minutes from the bench.

Ivan Rakitic is another striking case. As many as 136 of his 258 minutes this season have been as a substitute.

Averaging 26 minutes

On average, Barcelona's subs play 26.89 minutes from the bench each game, quite a bit more than Madrid's players' 17 minutes.
