Former Real Madrid footballer Rafa Martin Vazquez doesn't want to imagine Los Blancos being eliminated from the Champions League at its group stage, despite that being a real possibility this midweek.
Real Madrid have seven points from their five games so far and currently sit behind both Borussia Monchengladbach on eight and Shakhtar Donetsk on seven, ahead of a crucial round six meeting with the Germans on Wednesday.
"A clean sheet is key," Martin Vazquez told Radio MARCA's Marcador. "Real Madrid are capable of anything and they always react in big games.
"Now, the opponents have studied more. Tactics win out over individual talent. I don't want to think about elimination. It would be a huge blow. We're looking at a very unusual season."
The 55-year-old continued to speak about the Real Madrid side he formed part of, back in the 1980s and then again in the 1990s, first chatting about Juanito, or Juan Gomez, and some memorable comebacks.
"Juanito's image remains engraved [in history]," Martin Vazquez added. "That celebration in the changing room expressed the feelings of the entire stadium.
"Those comebacks defended the group. We had young players, but also guys with a lot of character.
"What was clear was that we were going it give it our all to try and that we were convinced we could do it. We had motivational talks among ourselves."

We should get knocked out tomorrow just to taste 👅 how it really feels like to take job for granted.... this is certainly bring up a question and action to sign a god damn striker, eg, Mbappe or Haaland!!! In case we win, the manager and boss will be doing same usual stuff, “ We have enough of good players and we don’t need any striker.” Bla bla bla 😁
