West Ham 1-3 Man City: Doku opens goal account, Haaland & Bernardo fire to win

Pep Guardiola enjoyed a momentous return to the Manchester City dugout as his side roared to a 3-1 victory over previously unbeaten West Ham, thanks to goals from Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.

James Ward-Prowse opened the scoring shortly before half-time against the run of play, having met Vladimir Coufal's inch-perfect delivery and steered a low header beyond Ederson from close range.

Champions City, however, hauled themselves back on level terms just a minute after the restart. After being picked out by Julian Alvarez, the summer signing swept his effort into the far corner.

The visitors continued to push for a winner, with Alvarez crashing against the woodwork and Erling Haaland forcing goalkeeper Alphonse Areola into a superb stop from his acrobatic volley.

West Ham's resistance was eventually broken on 76 minutes, Bernardo Silva capitalising on waves of City pressure to latch onto Alvarez's lofted pass and clinically clip above Areola. Haaland then added gloss with the third goal.
