West Ham will demand a record transfer fee of £150million as they prepare to sell England midfielder Declan Rice this summer.
The London club have fought a losing battle trying to persuade Rice to sign a new contract and privately accept they will have to cash in at the end of the season.
But manager David Moyes and the West Ham board are determined not to sell at anything less than £150m. That is £50m more than Manchester City paid Aston Villa for Jack Grealish when they broke the British record last summer.
Manchester United are the leading suitors for Rice as they look to replace Paul Pogba, who will leave Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer. Chelsea had been in the hunt but are now unable to buy players after the Government sanctioning of owner Roman Abramovich.
Rice is known to be interested in a move to United but it remains to be seen if the club can stretch to that kind of figure. United are also likely to need a striker ahead of next season.
Equally, West Ham may find that Chelsea’s problems adversely impact their ability to get that headline figure for the player. If United emerged as the only bidder, it would make it tougher for the Hammers to stick to their guns on the price.
Rice, 23, has two years left on his current contract, although the club have an option to extend that by a year. The closer the England international gets to the end of his deal, the weaker West Ham’s bargaining position becomes.
Talks between Rice and his club have not officially broken down but Moyes is known to be resigned to his best player’s desire to move to a bigger team.
Moyes said earlier this season that clubs had missed out on the chance to buy Rice at a lower price last summer. ‘There was a bargain to be got with Declan at £100m,’ he said. ‘That bargain is now gone.’

That's why they are signing Rudi.I am isn't that quite clear
Rüdiger alone cannot help them. They still need another 3-4 good signings to establish a world class defence.

They need an overhaul of the whole backline mate. I don't care who's in the attack. All of their forwards are pretty much useless without a backbone. They will never get back to the very top if they continue having incompetent defenders in that squad.

They are building a decent team tho. They have Vlaho and Chiesa and if they get another decent midfielder while having Rudi. They will look good

I feel sorry for Rüdiger or Jorginho or any player who wants to go to Juventus right now They don't deserve this man

I think Rudi is signing for Juve and so is jorginho.Chelsea either have to sell them or give them a new contract and if they haven't (Kante and jorginho) didn't have one it means something is wrong and instantly shows worry sign.I think both Kante and jor will leave this summer as per there contracts situation looks

There is a difference between Rüdiger/Christensen and Kanté/Jorginho. The latter two will be in their 30s while the former two still have a lot to offer for the next 3 years or so. So letting them leave on a free is not the end of the world but it would be a disaster if we're letting the likes of Christensen and Rüdiger leave for a free. Christensen especially has a lot to offer for any club in terms of number of years of service. He's only 25 years old. Sadly our board was too incompetent to handle the contract situation properly. Now we're on the verge of losing 3 senior defenders in one window. And then we wonder why we look excellent in one season and then horrendous in the next one. There are levels to reach the calibre of Man City and Liverpool.

Who do you think will pay such?
United, City or PSG don't care about money

What makes you so confident that Kanté and Jorginho are leaving in the summer? They still have contracts with the club. Kanté and Jorginho still have a year left after this season. Given their age, we might as well keep them for their final year while also blooding some young talents like Gilmour and Gallagher.

Do you think Chelsea should or will wait for 2024?I think Kante will leave this season. So will jorginho and your 3 cb's are leaving too.Which leaves the gap wide open.Even if you add Gallahar and Gilmour it would goona be a risk as injury will ruin Chelsea season again. So i think Chelsea will go for a CDM in this summer.I don't think they will wait for 2 more years

I'm aware of that. We'll see if they can cough up 150 million for him or not. If not, then Chelsea can always put in a bid or at least actively try to pursue the player. That's why I say that the club needs to show the interest in the player in the first place. If we show Declan that we're interested, he'll choose Chelsea over Man City and Liverpool even if those clubs are prepared to pay more money to West Ham or if they're also actively interested in him. This is the club he always dreamed of representing for the first team and this is the club where his best mate plays for. He would want to play for us without any doubt.

What if your board change the policy? With Marina you were pretty much the best contender. But you can't predict it.Do you?Fernadinho is leaving which means city or Liverpool can come too.

Excellent news! West Ham should continue resisting the sale of this player. It's only a matter of time before he runs down the length of his contract. It's upto my club Chelsea to show interest in the player. If that happens, he'd want to join us for a free transfer as his best mate is Mason Mount. So job well done West Ham
