What we learned from inside Liverpool's training ahead of Barcelona clash

Liverpool were handed a major injury boost as Roberto Firmino returned to training following injury ahead of their Wednesday night clash with Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at Camp Nou.

Firmino's powers of recovery

The Brazilian was a doubt for the match having missed the Reds' 5-0 romp of Huddersfield on Friday with a groin injury but he returned to training on Tuesday at Melwood with the rest of the squad to allay any fears.

After that match with the Terriers, Jurgen Klopp said: "The official diagnosis is that he has a small tear in a very small muscle. Apart from the word 'tear' everything is positive.

"It's Bobby, so he might be ready for Wednesday but we don't know obviously at the moment.

"But because it's him, it's rather likely than not. But we will see."

Firmino could be seen at Liverpool's training ground going through the warm-up and upping his intensity alongside his team-mates stretching his groin just as he stretched any of his other muscles.

It's another fantastic recovery for the No.9 and surely proves his powers to never be written off.

Social media strikes Salah again

Oh social media how you are loved and loathed.

A number of sites have been awash with rumours that Mohamed Salah suffered a thigh injury in training that needed further assessment and could miss Wednesday's clash with the Catalan giants.

However, the Egyptian superstar came happily out to training alongside Firmino and was laughing and joking with Dejan Lovren as the players were put through their paces to show quick feet and darting runs.

Official information is always best.

Liverpool at full strength for Barcelona clash

Fabinho was forced off the pitch due to a clash of heads after coming off the bench at Cardiff.

There was then no place in the squad for the midfielder against Huddersfield as Liverpool decided to take no risks with the Brazilian.

However, he also appears to be back to full fighting combative fitness to face Barcelona this week - which is great to see.

You may also remember Virgil van Dijk caused a little injury alarm during the second half of the Huddersfield game when he went down with an injury.

The Dutchman appeared in some pain before playing out the remainder of the match and signalling he was okay.

And it appears he has stayed that way as colossal centre-back led one of the lines in training on Tuesday and completed all of the activities with the other Reds players.

With all of these players appearing to take part in full and normal training while no others were missing, Klopp's side could well be at full-strength for the European heavyweight clash.
