Jürgen Klopp will no longer be in charge of Liverpool, but will Pep Guadrdiola stay with Manchester City after their latest title victory?
Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions once again, become the first club in history to win the English top division four seasons in a row. Pep Guardiola’s team defeated West Ham United at the Etihad on Sunday to beat Arsenal to the title by two points, with The Gunners’ final day victory over Everton rendered meaningless.
Will Pep Guardiola be in Manchester City head coach in 2024/25?
Following his side’s triumph, Guardiola revealed he was “closer to leaving than staying,” although that was a reference when his contract expires at the end of next season. That means we should expect to see the former Barcelona head coach in the City dugout in 2024/25, but maybe not in 2025/26.
Guardiola has been in charge of the Sky Blues since 2016, with his eight-year spell by far the longest he has stayed in a single club. He previously had four years with Barça and three at Bayern Munich. Since moving to England, the 53-year-old has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and one Champions League.
Jürgen Klopp chants Liverpool successor Arne Slot’s name at Anfield
One man who will not be managing in the Premier League next season, however, is Jürgen Klopp. The German will be leaving Liverpool after almost nine years at the helm and went out in typically eye-catching fashion by chanting the name of replacement Arne Slot after his team’s 2-0 win over Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.
Klopp’s time on Merseyside, however, ultimately ended in disappointment, with his team dropping out of the title race after dropping points in several games in the last few weeks of the season. The former Borussia Dortmund boss led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years in 2020, the year after they won their sixth Champions League/European Cup.
2024/25 Premier League: start date, teams, fixture schedule...
The 2024/25 Premier League season will begin on Saturday 17 August and will run through until Sunday 25 May 2025. The fixture schedule will be released on Tuesday 18 June at 4am ET / 1am PT.
19 of the 20 teams for next season are confirmed. Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town, the three teams who were promoted in 2022/23, were all relegated at the end of their first season in the Premier League. They will be replaced by Championship winners Leicester City and runners-up Ipswich Town, along with the winner of the Championship playoffs, which has yet to be decided.
The third promoted team will be either Leeds United or Southampton, both of whom were relegated from the Premier League at the end of 2022/23. The two teams will meet in the Championship playoff final, dubbed the “richest game in soccer,” at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday 26 May.

Guardiola said he didn't regret losing to Madrid. Losing the trophy to the owner leaves no regret. Smart Guardiola !
