Anthony Martial's departure from Manchester United's pre-season tour of the US to be by his pregnant girlfriend's side has left Jose Mourinho without 13 of his first-team players.
As it stands, Alexis Sanchez is the only senior striker available to the Portuguese for upcoming friendlies against AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid, all of whom they face before the end of the month.
With Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku both still on holiday following their World Cup excursions, there is no sign of relief for the Red Devils.
But while the raft of absentees may hamper Mourinho's preparations for the new Premier League campaign, it opens the window of opportunity for two young players, Mason Greenwood and Joshua Bohui, to impress.
As Rashford and Jesse Lingard have done in recent seasons, the academy duo will be looking to take their chance to break into the senior team this summer, but do they have the necessary talent to do it? Sportsmail takes a look...
Joshua Bohui
Age: 19
Position: Forward
Nationality: English
Apps (Under-23): 19 / Goals (Under-23): 0
Born in London, Joshua Bohui started his football journey at local club Brentford aged 11. Progressing rapidly through the ranks, he made his Under 21 bow at the age of 15 and soon caught United's eye.
His devastating pace made him a natural striker, but he has been developed as one who can play in both wide and central positions during his two years at Manchester United.
After a season at U18 level, where he scored six goals in 25 appearances, Bohui was promoted to the U23s for 2017-18, making 19 appearances throughout the campaign.
Despite failing to score in the Premier League 2, Bohui saved his best for the UEFA Youth League, where he scored four goals in eight appearances.
It seems that was enough to earn him a spot on the flight to California where he has been busy trying to impress Mourinho.
Not only will Manchester United be watching him closely throughout the summer, but several national football associations will be as well. Although an England U17 international, Bohui is yet to commit to the Three Lions and is eligible to play for France and the Ivory Coast through his father.
As they did with Wilfried Zaha, Ivory Coast officials have reportedly already put the feelers out to Bohui over fast-tracking him into their senior squad.
For now, his focus will be on making sure he gets his chance to play at Old Trafford.
Mason Greenwood
Age: 16
Position: Forward
Nationality: English
Apps (Under-18): 21 / Goals (Under-18): 17
Still only 16 years old, Mason Greenwood's presence on the tour is testament to what he has already achieved in the early days of his football career. Not yet eligible for a professional contract, United officials would have been nervous about revealing their diamond in the rough, but his performances have been too good to ignore.
An athletic boy from a sporting family, Greenwood's natural speed combines with his technical ability, thought to be exceptional for his age, to make a player comfortable both up front and in the No 10 position.
Despite playing alongside boys two years his senior, Greenwood finished top scorer in the U18 Premier League North last season (17 goals in 17 starts) and went on to be named the player of the tournament at the ICGT trophy in Holland, despite being the youngest member of the squad.
He can do more than just find the back of the net, however, and has been given responsibility of taking corners, free-kicks and penalties in the U18s squad.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United youth coach Clayton Blackmore revealed: 'He's great on the ball and very good with both feet. He's the first person I've seen that takes penalties and free-kicks with his wrong foot. I've never come across anyone like that!
'We don't know how good he is going to get. He's still growing. He's got a great chance.'
Manchester United will look to tie Greenwood down to professional terms when he turns 17 on October 1, but it is understood clubs have already began circling to try and tempt him away from Old Trafford.

Young English players at UTD no chance? For marketing reasons They only want over priced imports wearing the badge. What use a young lad from Brentford? He ain't gonna sell shirts abroad...

Never liked Martial's attitude on the pitch. He is not a team player and not a United player. Get rid.

Mason Greenwood 16 goals 18 games is a good record. At 16 years of age develop him and let him face the big clubs make his year by playing him. Bet he does a rashford and scores some blinders.

Martial is bone idle as a player always playing with a grin on his face never wanting to give that bit extra for the team only interested in chasing woman instead of chasing goals get rid

There are so many players that grow up to be nothing and come from Manchester untied they need to stop claiming eveyone is the next Messi . Cuz I’m sure we all know that there are players around now better than Messi was and that’s the truth .

mourinho will never make a player instead to buy a player that is already made. so he will never give chance for young stars that's why he's trying to get rid of my favorite Anthony Martial at age 22.

Maybe only be preseason but it's good that Jose's continuing the tradition of taking youth with them on tour. Obviously he has taken more as most are off as they've had World Cup duty. But still good to see, chance to impress for people like Chong Gomes greenwood etc.

Lol. Like Jose will ever give them a chance. He won't even give Fosu Mensah a chance and he's desperate for defenders.

Martial won't be missed. Still don't see why big clubs keep been linked with him. Apart from a blistering debut against Liverpool he's been very mediocre.

This has literally got me excited to watch the pre season. Martial has been a joke now for 2 seasons shouldn't still be at the club he puts in zero work for the team and only ever moves for a chance of him scoring (which he has been missing anyway). I was infuriated when he played all of first two games up front taking precious proving time from young club talent no way has he in any way deserved to be keeping driven players on the bench. Him going home is a blessing if he doesn't get sold anyway maybe we should just hope he keeps having kids. Hope he goes maybe he will turn out to be a Pogba and rediscover actually liking playing football but I doubt it and if he does please god don't buy him back.

They've got a great conveyor belt of talent at United, but they need to play. The thing is though, United also need to win whilst they bring them through. Now everyone can see what a brilliant manager Ferguson was, even more now than when he was still managing.
