Emiliano Sala became Cardiff City's record signing this January. The former Nantes striker complete a £15million transfer to the Premier League after a long-running saga, after Cardiff's interest was first made known at the start of the month.
By joining, he beats the £11million that the Bluebirds paid for Gary Medel in 2013 during their last stint in the top flight.
The 28-year-old arrives in the Premier League with a record of 12 Ligue 1 goals in 19 games this season, making him one of the French league's most sought-after assets.
Here is all we know about Sala...
Background
Sala was born in the Province of Santa Fe in Argentina, but has spent near enough the entirety of his playing career in France.
He struggled to break in at Bordeaux and was shipped out on loan on three occasions. He spent time at Orleans, Niort and Caen.
Sala moved to Nantes in the summer of 2015 for a fee of just €1million.
Playing style
Sala offers great potential for a direct attacking threat, standing at 6ft 3in.
But he is not just a big man up top, he has great ability with the ball at his feet. Sala enjoys getting the ball down and running in behind, and possesses reasonable pace to be able to do so.
Sala had 18 months left on his deal at Nantes before joining Cardiff .
January transfers
Sala was involved in a long-running January transfer saga after Cardiff's interest in the striker was made clear at the start of the month.
It took nearly three weeks for the deal to be completed - and it nearly fell through at the final moment.
According to reports in France, Sala was offered a mega money contract from a Chinese Super League club just two days before he put pen to paper on his deal with Cardiff.
But in the end, he stuck with his guns and signed for Cardiff in the Premier League, signing for £15million which was a club record deal.
