Wholesome footage of 'shy' Messi hearing an stadium chant his name has emerged

Footage of Lionel Messi hearing Paris Saint-Germain fans chant his name has emerged and his reaction was so wholesome. 

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is regarded as one of the greatest players to ever lace up a pair of boots and he has millions of fans worldwide.

Messi is now 34-years-old and in the twilight of his career, which means supporters are desperate to show their admiration when they get the chance to watch him.

During PSG's 4-0 win over Nantes in the Trophee des Champions last month, Messi was preparing to take a corner and looked into the crowd.

What followed was thousands inside Bloomfield Stadium in Israel chanting 'Messi, Messi!' and it clearly touched his heart.

Messi readjusted his hair and gave supporters a smile and a wave before getting ready to take the corner.

He then took another look at the crowd and basked in the glory for a few seconds longer.

Social media has reacted to the clip and they're absolutely loving it.

One person said: "This is true respect. You can tell he was shocked."

Another commented: "How can anyone hate this guy? He was like a little kid."

A third added: "The humble GOAT for a reason."

While someone put: "There's not going to be another player like him ever, being so ridiculously superior than the rest throughout his whole life and still be this humble."

Messi only managed to score six goals in his first season at PSG, but he came way with the Ligue 1 title.

He's started this campaign in fine form, scoring twice in Saturday's 5-0 win over Clermont Foot.

The Argentina international scored a sublime bicycle kick for his second and PSG's fifth.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier believes Messi will remind everyone of his talents this year.

"I talked to Leo during our stay in Japan, and with the defensive sector too to try and ensure that he can perform to the best of his abilities all the time," he told Ligue 1's official website.

"He is very sharp, very clear tactically. He sees very quickly where he has to be, the way he has to position himself to play. He's in a zone he likes. He likes playing with players around him. When Leo smiles, the team smiles too."
