A source "close to the situation" has told TeamTalk that the "transfer appeals to all sides, and to the player himself.

Bayern Munich are considering making Real Madrid an offer for Gareth Bale and the Welshman himself is reportedly interested in the move, according to news outlet TeamTalk.

Citing “a source close to the situation”, TeamTalk reports that the topic of Bale came up in talks between the clubs about the future of James Rodriguez. And following those talks, the German club are keen on making a move for the Welshman, whom Madrid would also be willing to let go in the summer with the mooted arrival of Chelsea's Eden Hazard.

“This is a transfer that appeals to all sides, and to the player himself – who wouldn’t want to play for Bayern Munich?” said TeamTalk’s source.

“Real and Bayern have a good relationship, and this a deal that could get done.”

Bale has been heavily linked with a summer return to the Premiership but Bayern Munich could also be an attractive option for the 29-year-old.

Bayern, on their part, will be on the lookout for suitable reinforcements with the imminent departures of veterans Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery at the end of the season and would be one of the few big European clubs that could afford Bale’s hefty wage packet.

Bale's situation at Madrid

Bale’s already difficult situation at the Bernabéu was expected to be further complicated by the return of Zinedine Zidane as coach last week. The winger had become out of favour under Zidane towards the end of the Frenchman’s first coaching spell, which prompted Bale to publically threaten to leave Madrid in a post-match interview following the Champions League final last year – a game he was notably frustrated about not starting.

But after having been recently dropped in favour of Lucas Vazquez under Santiago Solari before the Argentine coach’s sacking last week, Bale was recalled to the starting line-up for Zidane’s first game back in the coach’s seat. And the Welshman repaid the new manager’s confidence by scoring a goal in the 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo last Sunday.
