Arsenal have prioritised signing a left winger in the summer transfer window and Real Madrid's Rodrygo has emerged as a target amid his uncertain future under Xabi Alonso
Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who tops their four-man shortlist for a new left winger. Rodrygo, 24, is set for showdown talks with new manager Xabi Alonso to discuss his future and the Gunners will be watching developments closely.
The Brazilian has three years left on his contract with Real but lost his starting place this season under former boss Carlo Ancelotti. Real's capture of Kylian Mbappe last year resulted in less game-time for Rodrygo, who's also been linked with Manchester City.
Arsenal have been alerted to the 24-year-old's situation amid their search for a left winger. The position is understood to be a priority for boss Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta this summer.
That's alongside a new striker, with Sporting Lisbon hotshot Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Newcastle talisman Alexander Isak targeted for that role. Rodrygo isn't the left-wing only option for the Gunners, who Sky Sports report have shortlisted four candidates.
Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, Bayern Munich ace Leroy Sane and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers have been named as alternatives. England international Rogers enjoyed an impressive first full season in the Premier League with Villa while Sane, 29, is yet to sign a new deal with Bayern ahead of his current contract expiring on June 30.
Williams has been linked the most in recent months, although he's demanding eye-watering wages of £300,000 per week. Bilbao are also confident that the Spain international, 22, won't leave the club.
"I believe we have a winning and interesting project for everyone, and Nico is part of that project, just like many other players," Bilbao president Jon Uriarte told Spanish outlet El Correo. "The project becomes easier if we keep our players - and I believe Nico and the rest of the squad have a very exciting year ahead."

Aside from the attack, Arsenal remain confident that they'll complete the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi by triggering his £51million release clause, despite Real also being linked. The Gunners are also looking to sign a new backup goalkeeper and younger options in the full-back roles.
Arsenal announced on Wednesday that midfielder Jorginho and left-back Kieran Tierney will be leaving the Emirates at the end of their contracts. The club are holding talks with Thomas Partey over a new deal amid reports that the Ghanaian midfielder is in negotiations with Barcelona.
