Bayern Munich will turn down the chance to sign Joao Cancelo this summer, according to reports.
The Manchester City full-back is on a six-month loan with the German giants after falling out of favour at the Etihad.
He started his Bayern career well, with two assists in his first two games, but is now further down the pecking order and is expected to be on the bench for the club's Champions League last-16 knockout tie against PSG on Wednesday night.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Julian Nagelsmann's side are unlikely to trigger their £62m clause to bring Cancelo in permanently given his current status as a reserve.
They add that Chelsea and Real Madrid are the two most likely options for the 28-year-old star if he does leave City this summer.
At the time of his departure, manager Pep Guardiola said: He left because he always wants to play all the games.
'I wish him to do it in Germany for the next four months and then I don't know what will happen next season.'
His willingness to let the Portuguese go after Rico Lewis' emergence has now seemingly been vindicated.
The 41-cap international recorded assists against Mainz in the cup on his debut and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga the following match, but after Bayern lost against Borussia Monchengladbach, Cancelo was demoted to the bench.
He remained an unused sub against Stuttgart on Saturday and is set to continue in that role against PSG at the Allianz Arena.
Despite the absences of full-backs Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez, young Croatian Josip Stanisic has been preferred at right centre-back, with Alphonso Davies and Kingsley Coman used as wing-backs.
Nagelsmann, according to reports, sees Cancelo as a 'typical' full-back and as such not as suited to the current team as Stanisic, 22.
Cancelo, who left City in search of more regular first-team football, is understood to be 'frustrated' with his situation.
