Bild: Milan inquires about former Dortmund director Kehl through intermediary after Krösche rejects

According to Bild, Milan is searching for a sporting director and has inquired about former Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl through an intermediary.

Borussia Dortmund announced Kehl's departure in March this year. Following his failed move to Tottenham, a European giant may now offer him a new opportunity.

Kehl is increasingly being linked with Milan. According to Italy's renowned sports media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the traditional powerhouse is seriously considering the former German international. Milan had previously targeted the German market, attempting to recruit Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director Krösche.

The Rossoneri hoped to bring Krösche to Milan with a four-year contract worth up to €40 million to serve as "Football Director." However, Krösche—whose contract with Eintracht Frankfurt runs until 2027—rejected the offer. Now Milan is seeking an alternative candidate.

This could be Kehl's opportunity. According to Bild, Milan has not yet directly contacted the former Borussia Dortmund executive, only making inquiries through an intermediary.

One thing is certain: taking on a new challenge in Italy is very appealing to Kehl. However, he is not the only candidate on Milan's shortlist. José Boto of Flamengo and former Brighton executive Jason Wilcox are also reportedly under consideration. Milan finished fifth in Serie A last season, 17 points behind champions Inter Milan. Significant changes are expected this summer, potentially including the arrival of Sebastian Kehl, who maintains a strong international reputation despite his unexpected departure from Borussia Dortmund.
