English teenager Keanan Bennetts says he cannot wait to get started at new club Borussia Mönchengladbach, a move the left winger describes as "a dream come true".
Bennetts, 19, recently signed a four-year deal with the Foals after spending three seasons in the Tottenham Hotspur youth and reserve teams. Although he is still awaiting his senior career breakthrough, he is optimistic his chance will come at Borussia-Park.
"Borussia are a massive club," Bennetts enthused. "It's a dream come true for young players to get a chance like this. When a team comes along and shows so much faith in you, you have to say 'yes'."
Bennetts is the latest young player to leave England for the Bundesliga. He follows in the footsteps of Ademola Lookman (RB Leipzig, loan) and Reece Oxford (Gladbach, loan) and Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) - all of whom enjoyed top-flight football in Germany in 2017/18, racking up 30 appearances between them.
London-born Mandela Egbo, on the books at Gladbach since summer 2015, also got his first taste of Bundesliga action, while Liverpool's Ryan Kent spent the first half of this season on loan at Freiburg.
Unlike the aforementioned list of fledgling English talents, however, the fact that Bennetts is already fluent in German could be invaluable to his transition.
"My Mum comes from Hamburg, so I grew up bilingual," the England U19 international revealed earlier this month. "That's why I can speak German so well. I just want to get started!"
