Chelsea 'to submit offer for Mane' as he is keen to return to English football

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been linked with a shock Premier League return this summer.

Mane departed Anfield last summer a legend, having claimed 120 goals and 38 assists during a trophy-laden six-year spell at the club.

However, the winger has found success harder to come by since moving to Bayern Munich.

Mane has scored just 12 goals in all competitions for the Bavarian giants and has been at the centre of much controversy off the pitch. Indeed, in April, Bayern suspended and fined the Senegal international for punching team-mate Leroy Sane.

After the club’s humbling 3-0 Champions League defeat to Manchester City, Sky Germany claimed Sane’s lip was bleeding after an altercation which saw the pair needing to be separated by their team-mates in the dressing room.

Sane’s so-far unsuccessful spell in Germany may be ending, however, with the winger having been linked to a return to the Premier League.

Mane to Chelsea?

According to Football Insider Chelsea are planning to submit a proposal to Bayern forward Sadio Mane.

The Bundesliga table-toppers are allegedly willing to sell the former Liverpool star despite his return to Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI.

And Chelsea reportedly want to make Mane their first summer signing, as they plan to bounce back from a dismal 2022-23 campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino, who is widely reported to be in line to take the Chelsea manager's job, is also said to be keen on luring the Senegal star to Stamford Bridge.

While the Blues have allegedly targeted Victor Osimhen to fill the No.9 slot, Mane is considered a more realistic signing and a player capable of playing both centre-forward and on either flank.

Mane, whose Bayern contract runs until June 2025, is valued at £39million according to Transfermarkt.
