Though they failed to lift the FA Cup, it has been a successful start to life under the management of Thomas Tuchel for Chelsea.
But while the Blues have reached the Champions League final, there remain several areas in Tuchel’s squad that will need strengthening if they are to mount a title challenge next season.
One of the main targets for the Stamford Bridge side is a new striker, though options other than a move for Harry Kane will need to be explored.
The Premier League side are also set to upgrade their defensive options, as Tuchel looks to strike the right balance in his back three.
Here, Mirror Football round up the latest Chelsea transfer news…
Clauss interest ‘signalled’
One area that Thomas Tuchel is set to recruit reinforcements in is midfield, with Chelsea now monitoring RC Lens star Jonathan Clauss.
The 28-year-old only joined the Ligue 1 side last May, but has notched seven assists in 34 appearances this term, the same number as Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic combined.
That has helped Lens to a top-half finish in their first season back in the French top-flight, with Kicker claiming Chelsea have “signalled interest” in the midfielder.
Chelsea contact Lacroix agents
Another area that Tuchel will hope to reinforce is defence and it appears that Chelsea have found one player they can target.
That man is Maxence Lacroix, who is currently at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and has a valuation in the region of £26million.
Sky Germany report that the Blues have made contact with the Frenchman’s representatives over a summer move.
Though his contract does not expire until the summer of 2024, he is refusing to sign a new deal, with Sky claiming that could see Wolfsburg tempted into a sale.
Blues eye Lewandowski move
Chelsea have reportedly enquired about the availability of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world and recently equalled Gerd Muller’s record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season of 40.
The Blues are in the market for a consistent goalscorer after the struggles of Timo Werner this season.
One target they are interested in appears to be Lewandowski, with Sky Germany claiming the London club have already approached Bayern over a possible deal.

Lewandowski is a perfect striker but I'll suggest Harry Kane not Lewandowski because age is not on his side anymore, after one or two seasons Chelsea will be back in the market again looking for a striker to replace him again of which is not making sense to me

yeah yeah Chelsea is forevr in need of a striker aftr Great DD.. i thought we got the replacement vn young Lukaku ws there or Costa ws at chelsea and thn things messed up nd we were unable to hold them here . now we are in search of strikers again as we need double deal as O. Giroud is on his way out nd werner is not performed as per our expectations .. my bet chelsea must go for an established striker like kane/aguero/lewandowski whatevr.. bt aguero will be a free agent wd huge salary demanda.. if v need makeshift striker thn older 1s r gud.. otherwise we hve a striker British born settled in London... go for Harry Kane... he looks to b a gud replacement and Timo may stay another season to prove tht Bundesleague is a good takent producer...
