The Court of Arbitration for Sport has reduced Chelsea's transfer ban to one window, which they served in the summer, so the Blues are now allowed to sign players in January.
With the upcoming transfer window starting in less than a month, Frank Lampard's side may look to reinforce their squad.
According to The Sun, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to invest as much as 170 million euros in January.
Important first-team players such as Gonzalo Higuain, David Luiz and Eden Hazard departed in summer, but Chelsea couldn't replace them due to the aforementioned ban.
The Blues had already agreed a deal to sign Christian Pulisic and decided to bet on their youth prodigies this season, with Frank Lampard leading the rebuilding project.
Academy players such as Fikayo Tomori, Reece James, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been introduced in the starting line-up, but now Chelsea may look to further strengthen their squad.
Necessary reinforcements
The club are in need of a left-back and a player up front, with Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell being their priority, while Porto's Alex Telles and Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico are alternatives.
With Oliver Giroud close to the exit door, Chelsea have placed RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson on their radar.
In search of a star
Following Hazard's departure, the team lack a star player and Abramovich will attempt to give Lampard a Christmas gift.
Although Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho appeared to be Chelsea's primary target, it doesn't seem likely that he will depart the German side in January.
Meanwhile, reports in England state that the Blues had a meeting with Wilfried Zaha's agent, with the Crystal Palace winger having attracted interest from Lampard's side.

My personal shopping list if possible would be 2 of these from either; . • Ziyech - Left footed, dead ball specialist, insane vision, leader in the middle. Comes fairly cheap in comparison to other options. . • Koulibaly - Joint best centre back in the world. Having some trouble with Napoli so maybe obtainable at a fair price. . • Chillwell - Underrated cos hes English, top fullback with many abilities and traits both going forward and coming back. Ideal target. Back up to this transfer would be Gaya. . • Sancho - this 1 was more of a summer consideration but we need a player who can play on the right as we are losing Pedro and likely Willian too so who better than Sancho who can play right wing efficiently and we already know of how much quality he brings to any club.
