Stan Collymore has questioned Harry Kane's aspirations, claiming that if the Tottenham striker does not try to force through a move to Bayern Munich this summer then he lacks ambition.
The former Liverpool striker has also delivered a warning to Daniel Levy, suggesting that he may find himself in a similar predicament to those high up at Paris Saint-Germain and could lose his prized striker on a free next season.
Kane's transfer saga has been bubbling for the past few years, with reports now suggesting that Bayern Munich are one of few teams who could still sign the England captain but had a £70million offer rejected yesterday, an increase on their £56m bid that was also snubbed last week.
While many other clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the forward, Levy's £120m valuation for the 29-year-old has scared off many potential suitors.
Kane has a year to run on his contract at the London club, and Collymore believes that he has achieved all he can with the team before questioning Kane's ambitions.
‘He’s got to go,’ the 52-year-old said in his column with Caught Offside. ‘He’s done everything he needs to do at Tottenham Hotspur; there is nothing else left for him there now, and if he doesn’t push for a transfer then I am questioning his ambition.
‘If Kane continues to sit there quietly and make it easy for Daniel Levy to turn down £60 million – £70 million bids from a club like Bayern Munich, who are always in with a chance of winning the Bundesliga and the Champions League, then surely he doesn’t really have any desire to leave Spurs.
‘If the notion is that he’s settled and he wants to stay in London, that to me shows a distinct lack of ambition. Let’s not forget – this is a world-class player who does not know what it feels like to lift a major trophy. Surely the time has come for Kane to be demanding silverware.'
‘Considering football doesn’t wait for anybody if I were Kane, I would be doing all I can behind the scenes to force a move to Bayern Munich because it could very well be his last chance to win major domestic silverware.’
England's all-time leading goal scorer is scheduled to return to pre-season training this week, but Tottenham boss, Ange Postecoglou, has also revealed today that he has 'not had any assurances' over whether the England striker will stay.
A graduate of the Spurs academy, Kane has risen through the ranks since he joined the club's youth set up 14 years ago, to score 280 goals in 435 competitions.
While he's never won silver ware with the club he is a a three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner and also topped the scorers rankings at the 2018 World Cup.
It's plain to see why Levy is keen to only part ways with the striker, who netted 30 goals in 38 league matches last season, for a large sum of money.
But Collymore also believes that the Tottenham chairman may be playing 'a dangerous game' likening the situation they he finds himself in with Kane to Kylian Mbappe's predicament at PSG.
'As for Levy, I think he’s playing a dangerous game,' He added in his column with CaughtOffside. 'Don’t get me wrong, I know he’s a good businessman, but unless he takes Bayern’s offer, he’s likely to lose his club’s best-ever player for free,' he added.
'And as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently said while talking about the possibility of PSG losing Kylian Mbappe next summer: “By the standards of football, you never see your best player leave for free. It just doesn’t happen.'
It comes as the Tottenham chairman was reportedly 'furious' after Thomas Tuchel spoke to Kane without his consent.

As much as I believe kane should join bayern munich especially to win the major trophies! but you can hardly say kane is not ambitious maybe he truly believes he can win something with the club he loves and supoorts (spurs) regardless how ridiculous that might sound to some i bet no one at leister thought they clould win the epl or anyone could topple psg in france and so on?? you don't score that many goals if you're not ambitious! so you have to believe in your self regardless what the outsiders say that you can win every game and every trophy! having said that he can realistically score 40-50 + goals every year at bayern and win the bundesliga and dfb pokal and be 1 of the top 3 favourites for the UCL every year he plays at bayern!! if bayern win the tripple again he will win the balon dor most likely to also! unless he truly believes he win everything at spurs he shouldn't remain just for an epl goals record his legacy in the game would be far greater if he can win major trophies especially a triple and sextupple with bayern score 40-50 goals a season!
