Tottenham captain Harry Kane looks set to stay at the club beyond the summer unless Pep Guardiola instructs the Manchester City board to sanction a mega-money move.
The list of possible destinations for the striker is increasingly small with Real Madrid and Barcelona among the clubs unable to fund a move, while Manchester United now have less urgency to invest after Edinson Cavani signed a one-year contract extension.
No Italian clubs would be able to finance a move while Robert Lewandowski remains as the main striker at Bayern Munich and with Neymar set to renew his Paris Saint-Germain contract, a reunification between Kane and Mauricio Pochettino is also improbable.
Spurs would only consider selling the England captain for a record-breaking £150million this summer, according to a report in the Sun.
United would reportedly not be tempted to go above £90million to sanction such a deal and that has left newly-crowned Premier League champions City as the only feasible club to fund such a move.
Sergio Aguero is leaving the Etihad this summer following the expiration of his contract, leaving Gabriel Jesus as the only recognised striker remaining in City’s first-team squad.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is said to be the number one target for Guardiola for this summer - a move which would almost certainly break the transfer record for the English club.
However, a transfer for Haaland this summer is wrought with complications and that he would be available for £75milllion in the summer of 2022 due to a clause in his contract further clouds the issue.
The economic ramifications of the pandemic are still to be fully clarified for clubs and record-breaking spends this summer will be unlikely - although Premier League clubs remain in a stronger financial position than their European rivals.
Kane is said to be open to leaving Spurs this summer although it is understood that club supremo Daniel Levy will block any move that does not match his valuation of the star.
The 27-year-old has scored 31 goals across all competitions this season and provided 17 assists.

what sacking Mou caused, Kane and Son were in the form of their lives, Ndombele was rejuvenated. All that was needed was proper investment in the defence and this Spurs side was surely good to go, yet Levy and co decided to let things burst with the thought Mou staying will let players leave. Now cus Mou isn't there, Kane, Son and their other good players simply have no desire to play for the club again, seeing as they don't know where they're headed, leaving a 29 year old to give them European football. Just look at Roma, despise having a new manager, they still kept Fonseca to fight this season out, and that's why they'll atleast be in Europe next season.
