Harry Kane echoed Thomas Tuchel's sentiment and claimed England still have another level they can reach at the World Cup.
Tuchel was critical of England's display against Norway, albeit the German hailed his team's mentality.
Jude Bellingham scored both of England's goals in the 2-1 comeback win at Miami Stadium, and the midfielder shrugged off Tuchel's comments, suggesting the Three Lions boss did not know what it was like to play in such conditions.
However, Kane backed up his manager, and he feels England still have plenty more to give as they prepare to take on Argentina for a place in the final.
Kane told reporters: "When he sees us train and sees the closeness of us and sees what we can do, especially with the players we have, the way we attack, our one-on-ones and the skills, he just wants to see that version of us," said Kane.
"He knows as much as anyone that it's not as simple as that, we're playing against good opposition and good teams.
"He's trying to drag it out of us and we know ourselves we have another level we can reach.
"We haven't seen that yet, we've shown it in glimpses. Against Norway, it was in glimpses. But we haven't had full control that we would like and I feel we can have.
"We'll be playing against one of the best teams in the world in the semi-final, so the most pleasing thing is we are in a semi-final and still feel we can improve.
"But I don't think it is something to get really over the top about. We are showing a lot of good things."
Should he play against Argentina, Kane will win his 121st cap, the outright most of any outfielder for the Three Lions. Only goalkeeper Peter Shilton (125) has ever played more times for England.
Kane and Bellingham have both netted six goals each at this World Cup, marking the first time in competition history that any side has seen two of their players hit 6+ goals at the same edition.
England are made slight favourites to progress to the final, at 50.9%, compared to Argentina's 49.1%.

I love Messi (Barcelona) and i wish for him to progress in this tournament but over reliance on Messi by this Argentina side would destroy them if care is not taken. My home boy Bukayo Saka is gradually getting back to his good form after several injuries setbacks. Buksy boy, go and show them shege, amala, ewedu, gbegiri with orisirisi assorted await you during your short holiday here.

Well said Captain Kane. Don't mind those silly pundits and medía outfits trying to fan a fire between the players and the coach. Bellingham handled things poorly. He should have simply ignored the question rather than attack his manager.
