The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony has concluded, with Bayern Munich's English forward Kane successfully winning the award.
Before the official presentation of the Ballon d'Or, Kane had already received the 2026 Gerd Müller Trophy, earning two individual awards at this ceremony.
The Gerd Müller Trophy originated from France Football magazine's annual Best Striker award in 2021. The award was officially renamed the Gerd Müller Trophy in 2022 to honor the player who scored the most goals during the award period.
With these two awards, Kane became the first player in history to win both the Gerd Müller Trophy and the Ballon d'Or in the same year.

Congratulations to Harry Kane for this victory. Football won last night and it was pleasant to watch. Ballon d'OR is neither a popularity contest nor a political election required campaign. Show your worth on the field and let it speak for you. I hope the contributions of footballers like Olise will be properly rewarded in awards like this soon. He goes about his business quietly, but gets the job done. Congratulations once again to Kane and Putellas

History will judge this moment harshly. In a single year, Kylian Mbappé finished as top scorer in La Liga, the Champions League and the World Cup, and became the greatest goalscorer in World Cup history along the way. Ballons d'Or come and go every year. A season like this may never be seen again. The football world will one day realise what it chose not to honour
