Bayern Munich youth player Lennart Carl stated in an interview with DAZN that when he joined Bayern at the age of 14, his parents actually didn't support him, but his persistence ultimately helped him achieve his wish.
Carl said: "My parents weren't that supportive at first, especially my mother. But from the beginning, after Bayern Munich extended the invitation, I said I wanted to go there. When I first saw that training ground, I just told myself, I want to go there, I want to do it, I want to stick with it. My parents weren't completely on my side. I also received several other offers at the time. I said, I'm just going to go."
"Then I moved out at 14 and lived in a boarding school. For the first two weeks, I was a bit homesick, wondering how it would all turn out. Later, I got to know the boys in the boarding school, and things progressed quickly. Being with them every day, playing football every day, that time was really, really great."
