Kompany ready for 'special night' as Bayern Munich face San Siro second leg

Bayern Munich are ready for what could be a special night as they attempt to overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit in the Champions League quarter-final away to Inter Milan on Wednesday, according to head coach Vincent Kompany.

The game, according to Kompany, is likely to come down to individual moments of brilliance and that there is a level of belief from his players that they will come out on top.

"Sometimes there are special nights, nights were a moment decides the game," Kompany told a press conference. "In the last game we had our chances. Hopefully we will have our chances again tomorrow, maybe not as many.

“It's no ordinary stadium, it's one of the best in Europe. It will be a special atmosphere. We believe in our players to deliver special performances in these moments. You can create special memories in games like this," he said, as quoted on Bayern Munich's official X channel.

If Bayern Munich are to overturn the first-leg deficit, they will have to do so without plenty of senior players. Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito and and Manuel Neuer are among those unavailable.

"We are missing key players and despite these setbacks we are 100% convinced that we can do it with (keeper) Jonas Urbig and the other players," said Kompany. "They have shown that they can keep up and, in my opinion, deliver the performance that can get us results.

"At the end of the day we have to win it. You always have to win the game. No matter what the first leg result. Hopefully we can experience a special night tomorrow."
