Liverpool have been one of the busiest Premier League teams in the transfer window after already securing six signings but they want even more quality added to their squad in hopes of retaining the title
Liverpool are really going for it in this window. They've already spent over £170million on the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz, but they're not satisfied there.
The Reds are eager to hold on to their Premier League crown after dominating the 2024-25 season and Arne Slot is keen to bring in as many quality options as possible to help them do that.
Liverpool are looking for a new forward to compete with Luis Diaz up front and complement an already impressive attacking front four featuring Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa.
Slot already has two excellent playmaking options in Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai but Liverpool have signalled that they are ready to potentially sanction another huge transfer to further bolster the Dutchman's squad.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the biggest Liverpool transfer news and gossip.
Reds mull over Isak bid
Liverpool are in a tricky spot as they look to bring in the quality striker that could take them to a totally different level across all fronts.
It's clear Alexander Isak is their primary target, but it might be a move too ambitious, with Newcastle desperate not to lose a player who scored them 27 goals last season and led them to the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool could have to spend as much as £125m if they are to sign Isak - which would mean smashing their transfer record once again.
Newcastle have been adamant the Sweden star is not for sale and they have have been attempting to tie him down to a new deal. He currently has three years left on his contract, so the Magpies will be in no rush to sell.
However, Liverpool would be willing to press ahead with a bid for Isak - so long as they receive encouragement from Newcastle that they are willing to do business - according to the Daily Mail.
It's understood Isak is happy to stay at St James' Park after Newcastle won a trophy and secured Champions League football last season.
Liverpool make Ekitike approach
It's only understandable that Liverpool are making contingency plans in like likely event that their ambitious plans to sign Isak fails.
While Newcastle are also keen on Hugo Ekitike and want to pair him with Isak, they've had a £70m bid rejected - and now Liverpool are reportedly hoping to snap him up as an alternative to Isak.
Liverpool have made an official approach to Eintracht Frankfurt over Ekitike's signature, as reported by Sky Sports, as the Reds look to wrap up their plans for a new forward as quickly as possible.
It's believed Frankfurt value the player at closer to £85m and he would resemble a much cheaper option than Isak.
The Frenchman scored 22 goals in all competitions for Frankfurt last season and has amassed plenty of interest from top teams across Europe.
Talks ongoing for Salford wonderkid
Liverpool have made a total of six signings so far in this transfer window and could be set for a seventh before we even reach the middle of July.
While bids for Isak and Ekitike drag on, Liverpool are locked in talks with Salford City over wonderkid striker Will Wright.
The 17-year-old is highly rated, with both Arsenal and Manchester City believed to be looking at the youngster too.
Talks remain ongoing, according to the Liverpool Echo, with a possible fee of £300,000 being mooted - though it is expected that the Reds are likely to pay less.
Salford are co-owned by Manchester United legends Gary Neville and David Beckham, who had a fierce rivalry with Liverpool during their footballing careers.

Liverpool wants to dominate English football for the next ten years, trying to create an era similar to Man U under Sir Alex Ferguson
It hurts when someone mentions Man U next to Liverpool. Stay humble Man U. Yes, we had a past but it doesn’t look good now. Man U is a bottom 10 team for now. No good player trying to go play for them.
