Mainz vs Wolfsburg: Probable line-ups, match stats

USA defender John Brooks will be out to help Wolfsburg return to winning ways when they travel to Mainz on Wednesday (kick-off: 8:30pm CEST/7:30pm BST/2:30pm ET).

Latest

Mainz fielded their youngest ever starting XI for a Bundesliga fixture – with an average age of 22.8 years – in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Robin Quaison (24) is pushing for a starting place to bring a bit more experience to proceedings on Matchday 5, after the Swede came on to good effect - and had a goal disallowed – in Leverkusen. Niko Bungert and Karim Onisiwo – who both missed the weekend match – are doubtful again for the 05ers.

Wolfsburg boss Bruno Labbadia will be expecting a reaction from his side following their 3-1 home loss against Freiburg last Saturday. Josip Brekalo and Daniel Ginczek are options should Labbadia look to freshen up his attack against a team the Wolves have drawn with five times in a row. Admir Mehmedi should keep his place, though, after scoring in his last two outings.
