Borussia Dortmund’s sparkling 5-1 win over Freiburg on Friday was overshadowed by comments that striker Erling Haaland made after the match.
Haaland made it clear that he is unhappy with Dortmund for trying to force his hand over his long-term plans.
With the Norway international one of the hottest topics in the world of football transfer news, naturally these comments were the ones to make the headlines.
On the field, though, Dortmund were in excellent form. Thomas Meunier grabbed a double in the first half of the match before Haaland scored two himself and Mahmoud Dahoud rounded off the scoring late on.
But behind all this was a stunning midfield performance from Jude Bellingham, who enhanced his ever-growing reputation with a terrific all-round display.
Although the young Englishman is not up for sale, it was the type of dominant performance that will have clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United, who are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, salivating.
Bellingham’s blinding night
Bellingham was awesome, doing a bit of everything over the course of the fixture.
His most obvious contribution was in setting up Haaland’s first goal shortly before the break for what was his sixth assist of the Bundesliga season.
He got through a tremendous volume of work otherwise, though. In total, he created four chances, including three key passes, completed both his attempted dribbles and touched the ball an impressive 80 times. All this was achieved with a pass success of 88%.
But he did not shirk his defensive responsibilities either. In total, he won an amazing 11 duels and recovered possession on five occasions.
And these figures were despite being replaced with five minutes remaining.
Bellingham continues to confirm himself as one of the stars of the future, and it will not be long before the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd are linked with a more serious interest in the prodigious 18-year-old.

he's good buy we don't need him. Dortmund is a good place for development. A club like City of Liverpool will further polish him but he'll just be another midfielder at man united
