Man United are set to complete a deal for RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko and his arrival could open to door to a major exit from Old Trafford ahead of the new season
Rasmus Hojlund’s Manchester United nightmare may well end once Benjamin Sesko is signed. The RB Leipzig star is set to complete a sensational move to Old Trafford imminently.
The Red Devils have agreed a £74m deal with his current side, and Sesko has flown to the UK to undergo a medical with United. Once a deal is rubber-stamped, that could see the door opened to Hojlund exiting Old Trafford.
Italian side AC Milan hold an interest in the Danish striker and, according to Corriere dello Sport, have flown to the UK to hold talks. It is suggested that the Red Devils are keen to send Hojlund out on loan.
Milan would happily take the striker on a temporary deal but want a £30m option to buy inserted into any arrangement. That would represent a huge loss on the £72m that United spent to sign Hojlund from Italian side Atalanta in 2023.
The 22-year-old has gone on to score 26 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions since then. While United are open to letting him leave, Hojlund has made his preference very clear - to stay in Manchester.
Speaking on the club’s pre-season tour, he said: "I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens.
"I'm still very young. I think people forget that sometimes. I'm only 22. Obviously, not every striker is scoring 100 goals at the age of 22 (like Erling Haaland).
"But I've learned a lot, I think you can see in my game. I'm starting to develop and become even better in the basics. Now it's just about for me to sharpen myself and I've done very well in the pre-season so far. Just focusing on continuing that.
"Competition is fine with me. It sharpens me. I'm more than ready. I'm feeling sharp, so I'm welcoming everything that comes. I think it's good with competition and it only sharpens the team."

Hojund has three years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford but will fall down the pecking order once Sesko is signed. The Slovenian scored 21 goals in all competitions last term for Leipzig.
His signing is all part of a big recruitment drive from Ruben Amorim’s side as they attempt to add more goals following a dire campaign last time out. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have both already been signed for a combined £133m.
United begin their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford in just over a week’s time. Before that, they take on Italian side Fiorentina in their final pre-season game of the summer.

Why is Amorem afraid of allowing our young players to thrive. This panic buying of marquee players should no longer be entertained anymore. I thought to build a project implies to allow young talented players to form the nucleus of the team why this huge waste of money? Aren't we scared that these players, just like those we recruited before them, will fail to hit the ground running?
You build with experience player then use the young’s in between to balance the game. Amorim is doing well let sit tight and enjoy the game GGMU🔴
