Premier League Champions Manchester City have broken their club record to sign winger Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for £60m.
The 27-year-old Algerian is the Blues' first signing since they won the Premier League title.
They walked away from a potential deal for Mahrez in January because they were put off by Leicester's valuation.
Mahrez handed in a transfer request but stayed at the club, scoring 12 league goals in 36 games as the Foxes finished ninth in the Premier League.
He later said he had "regrets" over the dispute, during which the Professional Footballers' Association offered to be a mediator between club and player.
City were thought to have offered £50m at the time, but the final fee exceeds the £57m they paid Atletico Madrid for defender Aymeric Laporte in January.
Mahrez joined Leicester from Le Havre for £400,000 in 2014, and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year during their surprise Premier League triumph in 2015-16.
He scored 48 goals in 179 appearances for the Foxes.

As a die hard Liverpool fan, I’m so disappointed that we couldn’t sign Mehrez. In my opinion Mehrez is one of the best wingers in the world.

can this be the end of Leicester city and get relegated next season after selling their backbone mahrez, kante, and drinkwater? can magueire, and Schmeicel stay with them after their outstanding performance in this world cup? if they get relegated , Leicester city would be one of the disgraceful team to sack their great managers just for playing the same role of chelsea in sacking managers. finally, clubs who are loyal to their manager are successful such as atletico Madrid , but clubs who are sacking their greatest managers are failing especially weak teams especially them. loyalty is the key. this will be the reason that will prove the end of Leicester city🤑🤑🤑🤑

If he proves himself and his worth, he will never be on the bench....every player has their seasons, it might be his this season...remember Salah has played many big teams and couldn't prove himself but his season was last season at Liverpool...this might just be the beginning of new era for mahrez...good luck Bro
