Bayer 04 Leverkusen has signed French central defender Loïc Badé.
Club statement:
Bayer 04 Leverkusen has signed French central defender Loïc Badé.
The international player is moving from Spanish top-flight club FC Sevilla to the Werksklub. Badé signed a contract in Leverkusen valid until June 30, 2030. The 25-year-old will wear the number 5 in the team of head coach Erik ten Hag.
With Loïc Badé, we have signed a still young but already very experienced central defender for Bayer 04. He is used to facing off against absolute world-class strikers in LaLiga in Spain," explains Sports Director Simon Rolfes. "Loïc is physically uncompromising and intelligent in his play, an absolute reinforcement of our defensive line. With this overall defensive lineup, we are competitive at the highest level.
Badé made his first appearance for the Équipe Tricolore in June during the final tournament of the UEFA Nations League in Germany, coming on in the 2:0 third-place play-off against the DFB team. For Sevilla, he played a total of 79 games in the top Spanish league. Previously, he had played 46 matches for Stade Rennes in Ligue 1 in France.
The Bundesliga and German football really appeal to me. Bayer Leverkusen has received a great deal of attention abroad in recent years," emphasizes the 1.91-meter-tall right-footer. "I've seen a lot on TV, especially the international games. The stadium and the Leverkusen fans were amazing. It will be great fun to compete for titles with Bayer 04 in this environment.
