Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed the signings of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe will be 'impossible' for anyone without the European Super League.
Perez has spearheaded efforts to create the breakaway league, featuring at least 12 of the continent's leading clubs and backed by over £4billion in JP Morgan cash.
But those efforts appear doomed to failure with only Real and Barcelona left out of the original dozen that committed to the rival competition to UEFA's Champions League.
Perez insisted the project remained alive on Wednesday night and claimed that nobody will be able to afford the likes of Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappe or Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland without the cash injection the Super League could provide.
'In general, there will not be big transfers this summer,' Perez told El Larguero. 'When money does not flow from the rich clubs to the poor clubs, everyone suffers.
'It's impossible to make signings like Mbappe and Haaland, in general, not just for Real Madrid, without the Super League.'
The Bernabeu club have been linked with both players ahead of the summer window.
And Perez added: 'If we don't sign Mbappe this summer, I don't think any fan will shoot himself in the head. They know we're doing our best, and if things don't happen, it's because they're impossible.'
It came as the defiant Real president refused to back down over his controversial Super League proposals, which collapsed after the six Premier League clubs involved all withdrew on Tuesday night amid a furious fan backlash.
Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan all pulled out on Wednesday but Perez still came out fighting, insisting the 12 founding members could not leave because they all signed a legally 'binding contract.'
'I am a bit sad, disappointed,' he started. 'We have been working three years on this project, on fighting the current financial situation in Spanish football. It is easy to understand - you cannot touch La Liga, so you look for more money midweek.
'The leagues are sacred. What we can change is the midweek games. The Champions League is obsolete – it's only interesting from the quarter-finals onwards.
'Among the 12 teams we lost €650million last season. This season two or three more times. This format clearly does not work.'

🎙Florentino Perez: “We wanted to save football, we need to save football. It seemed we wanted to kill football instead”. [ellarguero] 🎙| Perez: “I have never seen such aggression from the President of UEFA.” 🎙| Perez: “The League is untouchable. Where you have to get money is during the week. The current format clearly does not work.” 🎙| Perez: “If this project didn’t work, another one will.’’ 🎙| Perez: “This Champions League system is outdated, the tournament only becomes exciting from the quarter-finals.” 🎙| Perez: “The rich lose a lot of money. And if there is money up there, this is a pyramid that benefits everyone.” 🎙| Perez: “The Super League is on STANDBY. The clubs are together even though the situation changed.” 🎙| Florentino Perez: “Juventus and AC Milan have not left the super league . Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are still in talks to find solutions”. Perez: “The contract is a binding contract. We will NOT sue the Premier League clubs.” 🎙| Perez: “I’m talking to Laporta, Barcelona are still with us.” 🎙| Perez: “I am convinced that there were people who have privileges that did not want to lose them, and that’s why they fought back this way.” Florentino Perez: “Nobody has yet paid the penalisation fee for leaving the Super League. We are almost all still in this, they have not officially left yet...”. Perez: ‘If Barca will save on the penalty fee if the socios say no to a Super League? I know the Barca socios well, you think they would say no? Please...’

Honestly if I were a club owner, I would not have signed any player this season. This is because the clubs are not getting enough revenue to push some of these transfers. The likes of Roman Abrahamovic are literally signing players from their own pocket and its going against them. If fans did all they could to revert this ESL, then we must not expect any signings next season. I bet if the current coronavirus persist for a while, some club owners will be forced to sell their clubs to different people because at that point it will become practically impossible to manage these players and staff with huge wages

why did the clubs of those players put high price tag on them? Is it compulsory you buy the players? Any player demanding for high wages now should go and work in the rice farms! Why must a player be aiming to earn £1m a week in face of present financial challenges occasioned by this pandemic? No fans at the various stadia to generate the funds. Any player who is overvaluing his worth now becomes very infantile, primitive, insensitive, unreasonable and unfair to the football family and our financial environments as well. A young player like Haaland, should be less greedy since he has more years to put in, in the round leather game. It is too early in his career to achieve the financial heights of Merci and Rinaldo etc. He should not allow his agent to use him lead club administrators into error or darken the present football situation. Can't FIFA do something on this players' over invoicing?

If you understand the maths, Perez is being honest. come to think of it, how come a club like barca owes +€1B? that's because they don't get much money from UEFA, they buy high players with the hope of paying them, and then boom their financial targets don't meet, then the debts come in, and UEFA officials are spending the cash with FIFA officials and keep building their corrupt Empires the Super League in short means no moderator from a single body unless the founding members and the founding members are the big teams that will make poch for players like he mentioned. so yes, as long as UEFA still rules them, and maintains their benefits and rules? clubs will go broke unless the oil-fueled clubs.. PSG and city are just smiling financially because they don't have many high-class players making differences, and with the German teams, it's because they don't also have many high-class players who demand much salary. if they have players they pay huge salaries too? they will reason and follow Perez. in as much as you disagree that's just it, with UEFA? the teams are in a financial container

Perez . must surely be sanction for his greedy acts.is only him wants to buy Mbampe and Haaland in his team, so he will continue to dominates winning in all competitions.and big teams makes they money from Small team's and fans. Now let's see how it's going to works with him, UEFA and FIFA have said NO to super leagues. like he said Nobody says to his ideas and what is says (big Mafia) he can now turned laliga to super leagues his missions and ideas. then Messi and other players have there right to leaves laliga bcuz they wants to play in FIFA world cup for they country's. Boss Perez must loss this war he started with sanctions.

We can't fully disagree with him. Because teams like Barcelona, real, Juventus, English top 6 etc needs to get best from the all players to keep the legacy of the clubs. For that need remuneration. Right now it is not possible to get huge money. So, this was a way in front of Perez. Which will help other bigger teams also. But for the legacy of football sport it will never suit perfectly. Personally i can strongly disagree with this idea. But for the top clubs management this was a life to save their clubs from huge debit.

now I can see people who have brain and share the same idea with me, very soon all those ignorant fans who rejected ESL will start to cry when their club has no money to buy players they want.
