Revealed: The maximum figure Bayern Munich 'are willing to pay for Luis Diaz'

Bayern Munich have reportedly set a sky-high limit on their transfer purse for Liverpool star Luis Diaz.

The German giants are rivalling Barcelona and Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr for the forward's signature this summer.

There is a problem standing in their way: Liverpool hold little intention of selling Diaz, whose contract expires in 2027.

But that has not deterred his suitors from rummaging around in their wallets, with Barcelona thought to be the frontrunners.

Barca have made formal contact, Mundo Deportivo reports that his agent is in talks with the Spaniards, and SPORT reported last month that Hansi Flick's side were confident of landing him.

However, Bayern are also keen and will reportedly allow Vincent Kompany to spend up to €60million (£51.6m) on him, according to insider Christian Falk.

That happens to be £0.6m above a figure recently quoted by SPORT as Liverpool's asking price.

However, Mail Sport reported earlier in July that Liverpool rejected an approach from Bayern, telling director of sport Max Eberl that the 28-year-old would not be leaving Anfield.

Falk notes that Bayern will not submite da formal offer for the time being out of respect to Liverpool following the death of Diogo Jota.

Diaz has insisted he is 'very, very happy' with the Reds, but that has not stopped him being linked with an array of sides.

Liverpool have not offered an extension to his contract and with it running out in a couple of years, the onus is on them to make a call on his future.

The versatile Diaz made 50 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists.

He recently said: 'I'm very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they've made me feel really welcome.

'Right now we're in contact with them because we're speaking with [other] clubs. It's normal, the market is open, and we're trying to sort out what's best for us.

'I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool doesn't make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there. And that's it, everything depends on them obviously, it's up to me to decide what's best for us.'

Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for an initial fee of £37.5m.

He has gone on to be an important player, playing 148 times, and became the second Colombian player ever to win the Premier League after Juan Cuadrado did with Chelsea.
