Manchester United will be licking their lips watching Jadon Sancho's first start of Euro 2020, with Rio Ferdinand among those getting excited about the winger.

Sancho has been stuck in the shadows of England's snowballing push for glory this summer, seeing only six minutes of action up to the quarter-finals.

Finally, Gareth Southgate handed the 21-year-old his chance against Ukraine on Saturday, and he immediately impressed in the first-half.

The new Old Trafford recruit – who is set to complete the move from Borussia Dortmund after the Euros - injected energy and showed-off some exciting flashes of his stunning Bundesliga form for the Three Lions.

Ferdinand, who is delighted Sancho is en-route to his old club, led the praise.

'Yes, United have got a player on their hands,' the former centre-back said on BBC punditry duty.

'This isn't a surprise. This is what you've been seeing for three years, German fans. He moves like he's on a dance floor, he mesmerises defenders.

'The confidence and balance he has is rarely seen. Once he's up to speed, this kid is unplayable.

'There's a weight of pass and decision-making that goes beyond his years.'

Sancho did miss a strong chance in the first-half after spinning smartly and letting fly under little pressure, but his rapid feet and quick-thinking could bring him into contention for the next round.

England will face Denmark in the semi-final after their commanding victory over Ukraine.
